Used Car Warning Cat C, Cat D, Write Offs

Hi, Sorry that I have neglected my Blog lately, it seems that when you are busy the mind tends to clear and you only Focus on the immediate tasks.

A lady and her Daughter came in to see me Yesterday, they said something that was so Bizarre that I thought I had better report it on my Blog page with a view to educating people that are as like minded as they were.

They were due to leave my premises to look at another used car that was unbelievably Cheap, I asked them a few questions and warned them that they may be going to look at a Cat C or D.

This immediately sparked a memory of a phrase that they read in the vehicle description, "Cat D" they thought that it was something to do with the (Cat)alytic Convertor, a Tragic misconception which could have cost them dearly had we not met.

If the phrase Cat C or Cat D is in the vehicle description it is a thinly disguised attempt to hide the fact that the vehicle has been written off in an accident, I will state that again for those amongst you that didn't get it the first time around, it has been "WRITTEN OFF IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT" resulting in extensive damage which the Insurance company deemed too costly to repair.

Many of these cars are sold as Salvage to anybody that has a few hundred pounds, they do a Bodgit and Scarper repair job and sell it on to YOU the unsuspecting "Billy Bunter" (Punter) Legally they don't even have to tell you unless you ask, even then they probably still wouldn't.

Often they are unscrupulous traders, "no honestly there are a few", posing as Private sellers, the story often goes along the lines that they bought it for their wife and the boot isn't big enough for the pram/shopping/wheelchair, etc, or she can't park it, or she has gone off the colour, or some other lame excuse, you've got an imagination how many can you think up in 3-5 minutes?

When you buy a car it is a large ticket price item, get a HPi check done on it YOURSELF, don't rely on the one that they produce for you, these can be cut and pasted onto a word document and altered to read anyway that they want!

If you go to my website www.acar2go.co.uk there is a link to carcheck, they will supply you with a lot of information including if the car has, 1) Mileage discrepency (5% of cars on the road have been clocked) 2) Outstanding Finance, (A staggering 24% have outstanding Finance) 3) Plate Transfer, (15% have had one or more) 4) Whether it has been written off in an accident, (4% have had a significant Insurance claim) 5) whether it has been reported Stolen, (1 in 300 are registered as Stolen)

In the words of the Great Clint Eastwood, "Do you feel Lucky"?

These statistics are very Scary, which is why you should only buy from a reputable company that has their business registered at Company House, are registered for VAT, are members of a well known Trade society such as the Federation of Small Businesses, have been practicing their trade for a number of years, are well respected and known in their local Community.

I have just realised that I have actually been describing my own Company.

Well I'll be blowed, a used car company that is honest, approachable, sells only great, reliable Good Quality used cars and does exactly what he says he would do every time without fail.

As one of my Lovely customers said once to a friend of hers, If you want it straight with no Bu****t then go and see Mark at acar2go.

Please take the above Warning Seriously as if you get caught out with a Write Off, you will have lost loads of YOUR Money, the Trade do not entertain these cars at all, they are worth about a Quarter of the Book price of normal cars, even then we don't want them!

Thanks for looking in again, hope you found this information useful.

Kind Regards.

Mark
